The Founders
OHC was established in August 2004 with the combined help of three travellers who had an interest in helping Nepalese orphans: Finnish Nonna Lamponen, New Zealander Amanda McKay and Belgian Leen Lievens.
Together, these women have created an orphanage that exceeds most orphan centres. The tight-knit organisation is small, so a family environment is nurtured. The focus is on love, nutrition and education.
OHC Directors
Amanda McKay and Nonna Lamponen are the directors of OHC who willingly give their time and energy to make OHC a great home for children and a rewarding experience for sponsors. Amanda keeps in daily contact with the workers and organises the finances and sponsorship. Amanda works with Indira, the director of PA Nepal, and the staff members to ensure the day-to-day decisions of the orphanage put the children first.
Another big player in OHC is Leen Lievens, who has supported OHC from the very beginning by giving commitment and time to the children. She continues to fundraise to keep OHC a happy place for the children.
The aim of OHC is to do more than provide food and clothes for the children. We want to give them a good education. We want to see these children go out and make a difference in the world - the world that is giving them a chance today.
